Developing content and experiences that connect with people and move them toward action.

  • Published Work: Jackson Falls Guidebook

Two years of researching, interviewing, documenting, and writing led to the publication of my first guidebook. This 272-page resource includes information on over 400 climbing routes, detailed maps, full color way-finding photos, and instructive recommendations for climbers.

  • Event Production & Marketing: 2018 So iLL Showdown

Led creative direction, scripting, and production for this short film—a highlight reel of my company’s annual climbing competition. The So iLL Showdown is a complex, live event that attracts 300 spectators and 250 competitors nationwide. My chief responsibilities for the event itself were end-to-end production, logistical coordination, and run of show.

  • Crisis Planning & Communication: COVID-19

Our ownership group was slated to open its second climbing gym location in March of 2020. Navigating an unprecedented global health crisis at an inflection point for the company required a thoughtful, measured strategy. I worked with stakeholders at all levels to prevent layoffs, cover overhead, and eventually re-open to the public. Transparent communication is critical during a crisis—as is speaking with one voice which reduces noise and amplifies signal.

  • Coalition Building: BETA Fund x USFS Emergency Response Information

These projects are part of an ongoing partnership with the United States Forest Service. My advocacy portfolio with BETA Fund included end-to-end management of USFS’s request to update its information kiosk at Jackson Falls. I also designed the emergency response kit program authorized by USFS and secured funding through an REI sponsored grant to finance these projects. This coordinated program helps climbers and hikers communicate with EMS—closing the information gap for visitors and reducing EMS response time in emergency situations.

  • Social Media Content: Boulder of the Week

This weekly series notified members when new climbs went up at the gym and which ones we recommended from the latest round. These videos encouraged in-person turn out and online engagement from a distributed audience. I designed, coordinated, and wrote content to support this ongoing communications piece.

  • Thought Leadership: Power Company Podcast Guest

In 2018 I was interviewed by performance coach and climbing industry leader, Kris Hampton for The Power Company Podcast. We discussed the value of empathetic leadership and centering employees in the workplace. Our strength as a company has always been cultivating, trusting, and celebrating talent.
